Stasja My childhood I was born on 26th of December in Riga. Childhood was the happiest time of my life, because my parents gave me so much love and attention. I have many photos, which I look very often and they remind me of this time. Most of all time I spent with my grandfather, because my parents were studying and working, therefore every weekend was for me like a holiday. Actually, in my memory haven’t left too much events. The earliest memory is a scene, when I was 2 or 3 years old. My Mom held me in her hands and hugged. I played with her and suddenly pulled my hand and tore her beads. I cried for a long time, because I was really sorry, but my Mom calmed me and said, that all was all right. My first toy was a teddy bear; it bought my father on a day before my birth. When I was 3, I went to children garden, where I met my first friends. I didn’t like it, but now I understand how big role did it play. It’s really nice, that I have been friends with Rinata since that time. I enjoyed reading very much. In 6 years I read almost all books at home, but now I don’t like reading so much. One day father brought a computer in my room. I didn’t understand what is it and how does it work and I asked many questions to my father. My Mom learned me typing texts by keyboard. I remember my first school day as clear, as it was yesterday. It was very sunny day of 1st of September 1998. I was very afraid and nervous. After the first bell had rung, we were invited to our classes. Our teachers were very kind. I haven’t noticed how quickly has gone a time of childhood… When I was a little girl, I wanted to grow up more quickly, but now I want to return time of my childhood and become a child. A relationship is built upon the understanding between two people, but it can have very different meanings, because there are several kinds of relationship. Mostly when we talk about relationship we think about the relationship between a man and a woman, because we think it is natural. In the most cases one of them or both fall in love with each other, but there are exceptions when they can be best friends, neighbors or just know each other. People have important relationship (family, friends) and not so important (classmates, workmates, acquaintances). We all want to keep relationship good both with family and friends, but there are times we must decide which of them are more important to us. Not all the relationship are lucky there are times when a relationship can go bad because there is no understanding, lack of communication, and a feeling of distance in the relationship. Many people like long-distance relationship but I am not one of them. For me the most important is my family. I try to keep good relationship with all my family members, my father, mother and my two sisters. There are times we all argue but after all we calm down and everything is all right. In general I would say the best contact I have with my older sister because we understand each other, we can talk about everything, we don’t have any secrets, that’s great, that’s why I like to spend time with her. Also very important for me is to spend much time with my friends. I have many friends but only few of them are very close to me, and I know I can always count on them, I know that they won’t let me down. Usually I meet with them at the weekends, when I got some spare time; we are laughing together, and having fun. We are talking a lot about many interesting things. Almost all of my friends are on the same age as me, or older, because I don’t like to commune with people who are younger, because they have other interests, of course there are exceptions. There are two important things to me, family and friends, they are closest people that I have, and I’m always trying to keep good communications with both. As you know, I am living in Latvia, in a city named Riga. Riga is the capital of Latvia. I`m living there with my parents in a flat. I am studying in school, 11 grade. I am also working for my father. He has a small company, and I help him to organize some works. My mother is an architect. My hobby is football, I have played football for almost 10 years. I like to spend much time with my friends, and just hang around the city. My city is cool, there are many places to visit, and I have always a place where to go. There are many places where you can just to have a good time. I wanted to ask you some questions because I have plans for future which are linked to your country England, I am planning to go to England, because i want to educate and work there. I just wonder, do you know a cheap place where copuld I stay for a year, while I am spending my time there. However, this job has also negative points, for example, I can’t do till the end of my days because it is a phisically hard job and it is very easy to loose your health, because I will have to carry heavy things and to do other dangerous activities. Questioning the myth of unconditional love between parents and children, this study examines the strength of the parental bond when children are born with physical defects. The author studied parents' behavior toward 1,450 children born with defects in three hospitals in Israel, and then conducted follow-up studies over a period of six years with 200 families in their homes. One of the major recurring patterns of parental behavior was a massive tendency toward rejection of deformed children. Rejection was manifested by parents' wishes for drastic separation from their children through abandonment, institutionalization, or giving up for adoption. If brought home, the children were isolated and hidden from view. Weiss found that half of the newborns with physically observable defects were abandoned by their parents in the hospital. Even when the parents were assured by doctors that their children would develop intellectually or would not require special care, the tendency to abandon remained strong. Normal children who suffered physical deformity due to burns or other accidents were similarly rejected by their parents. This study will take a major place in the literature on human behavior because through exhaustive and long-term observation of actual behavior in thousands of individual situations, it exposes the extreme importance of physical appearance in interpersonal relations. The author describes how the deformity causes confusion in the parents' cognitive system, labelling the child with a name such as monster or devil or creature, or another non-human category. Parents' reactions to their children's body image are discussed and the concept of body boundaries is analyzed. Children connected to medical apparatus or sickly children are the cause of much parental rejection. Also, territorial restrictions are placed on the deformed child in the home. These range from closeting or imprisoning in unfurnished surroundings separate from the family to demotion to servant status within the family. This study refutes most assumptions in the literature and shows that forming bonds with one's biological child is not necessarily spontaneous, automatic, or natural, and that every child undergoes a process of adoption or rejection based on external appearance and whether or not that appearance matches the parents' image of a "person." My sister didn’t tell parents where was she going because of she was considering herself as an adult already and responsible for herself. But then after some time in the company of her friends Maria started to feel as if this is not the place she wants to be. Friends started to argue, drink alcohol, smoke and act weird so she wanted to get home as fast as she can, but no one agreed to take her home. Then she started to feel lonely and sad. She called our father and explained the situation, said that she wants to go home. My dad went to that place and helped her to get away. When my sister get home, she went to her room and cried, she said that in that day she understood how important the family is, and from that day she knew, that we, her family will always support her and help her wherever she will be.
