I remembered that I have an appointment with my doctor today even I haven't heard from him for a long time. So, I gathered my things, chatted with my brothers and left the house. Walking down the stairs I heard my neighbor shouting at each other, as usual their way how to communicate with each other. I got quick out of the street and it was too quick that I almost bumped into big man. We only connected with glare and few kind words of apologies were said. I think he also smiled at me because of this awkward moment. But I kept walking down the street and noticed my friend going in to the shop. I waved to him but he didn't see me. I didn't try to follow to him because of the lack of the time and I can write a letter to him by e-mail.
I made my way to the doctor. He was already waiting for me. We shake hands and he said that he don't have enough time because he has a very important meeting with his colleagues. I heard the whispers in the other room but doctor just winked with no explanation.

Music

Modern music is very different from the music of the past centuries. But in all times people expressed their feelings and emotions with the help of music. The world of music is boundless and all people are not alike, that's why there are so many various styles in music and everyone can choose what he wants to listen.
As for me, I prefer rock, punk and a little bit metal genres of music. This kind of music is melodic, rhythmic and the biggest parts of songs have a deep sense – that is the difference from popular music. Electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboards and drums are the main music instrument here, that’s why singers must have a strong and powerful voice. Many people think that such music - is only screaming and very loud, but I don’t think so. They just don't understand the natural meaning of that music.
I like many singers and bands, but my favourite singer is Valeriy Kipelov. He can play Russian folk instrument - the bayan. :DDD I find him very talented. All my music I keep in my computer. I have almost all albums, video’s and concert records of Aria and Kipelov, but I am not crazy or mad about them, I don’t write letters or join any fan clubs. I find it foolish.
Music plays a big role in my life: When I listen to music I relax, music helps me to keep a good mood. Sometimes it helps to let my negative emotions out or to charge with good emotions. My parents bought me a guitar on my birthday, so now I learn to play it. I want to learn it because I want sing for my friends. That's not such easy as it shown on TV in various music clips. I don’t want to link my job with music, it is just my hobby. I enjoy visiting concerts: It’s a good chance to listen to live, acoustic and high quality music and you can also have a good time with friends and meet new interesting people and see your favourite singer (as) close (as your English lesson teacher.).

BOOKS IN OUR LIFE
«Books and friends should be few but good», says an English proverb.
«Except a living man there is nothing more wonderful than a book! The book
is certainly one of the greatest inventions of man. It is a friend and a
teacher. We learn many things by reading books. Books teach people to live.
The book is a faithful friend. They form our values and our characters. It
gives us an opportunity to imagine the future, to look into the past. One
can learn a lot by reading books.
There are a lot of libraries in our country, where we can choose any book
we need. Everyone has the right to use public libraries. The librarian is
always ready to help you to find a book on any subject.
Talks, exhibitions and other events take place in libraries. Except
reading special and scientific literature it is a great pleasure to read
belles-lettres.
Different people like to read different kinds of it. It depends on one's
taste and character. Some people prefer detectives or science fiction.
Others like historical books. Girls and women prefer love stories. Children
like comics very much.
As for me, I prefer to read science fiction. It is very interesting and
exciting for me as my hobby is computing. I read that some scientists think
that without the computer the 21st century would be impossible. Computers
are penetrating all spheres of human activity. In many of them they become
indispensable. They calculate orbits, guide spaceships and planes, play
chess, teach pupils, house wives to choose a menu. We often her that the
increasing flood of information will be one of the problems of the 21st
century. A computer may help to solve it too. It’s hard enumerate all the
uses the computer may be put too. To my mind any books are our best
friends. We must treat them with care and they will give us a lot of
pleasure.

Hi, Jane!

It is me Karlis, I hope you remember me, we met in a huge party in Amsterdam last summer. I`m just wondering, how are you? How is the work? How are you spending your time?
I want to tell you more about me and my family, my home and my country. As you know, I am living in Latvia, in a city named Riga. Riga is the capital of Latvia. I`m living there with my parents in a flat. I am studying in school, 11 grade. I am also working for my father. He has a small company, and I help him to organize some works. My mother is an architect.

I wanted to ask you some questions because I have plans for future which are linked to your country England, I am planning to go to England, because i want to educate and work there. I just wonder, do you know a cheap place where copuld I stay for a year, while I am spending my time there. Also maybe you could recommend a place for me where to work, because I will be new to your country and I will know nothing. I hope to get your answer back soon.

Well, it has almost been 5 months since you passed away, and it has been a long 5 months. I really miss you a lot sweetie, I would do anything to have you back in my life. We were the best of friends, and I miss that more than anything. I miss meeting you in the morning before school, I miss meeting you at your locker, I miss going to get your oil changed with you, I miss cruising down Broadway chasing hot guys, I miss us just plain out spending time together. And you know what I miss the most Charity, the way you used to say "Scotty!" No one could say his name like you did. My life just can't go on without you sweetie. You were the one person who didn't look upon my family as bad people, even when my family has made mistakes. You didn't care about what happened in the past, you still wanted to be my best friend. I love you very much for that Charity. You were basically the only supportive friend I had. And now the only support that I have is your voice in my head. Charity, I would do anything to just give you a huge hug and tell you that I love you very much. I want you to come back so bad, nothing is the same without you, NOTHING!! I do see your mom a lot though, I am really worried about her Charity, please watch over and don't let anything happen to her. I don't want to lose her, she is basically my connection to you, and she knows exactly what I am going through. Summer has gotten really big. You would be so proud of her. I was over at your mom's today, and Summer can take steps now with your mom holding on to her, it's so cute. But I will tell you one thing, Summer has got to have the cutest, fattest cheeks that I have ever seen. She is adorable! Your mom also gave me your lucky stone from Itasca State Park, and a ring that you had bought. I also received the picture of you with Aerosmith when you were younger. You were cute, but then you always have been. Your headstone is very beautiful, just like you. I couldn't wait for them to put it in, I even skipped 6th hour to come out and watch them put it in. But you are very well worth skipping school for. But don't worry, I didn't get in trouble for it. Well Charity, I just want to let you know that not one day goes by without me thinking of you. I think of you night and day sweetheart. I want you to know that I love you very much and miss you tons. I can't wait to be with you again. See you when I get there sweetie.

Health
When people are ill they usually go to the doctor. The doctor examines them. Patients are usually asked to strip to the waist, so as the doctor could check their lungs and heart. The doctor listens to the patient’s lungs and heart with a stethoscope. The patient is asked to take a deep breath, then to hold it and not to breathe. Then the patient is asked to open his mouth and the doctor looks down the patient’s throat. Sometimes the doctor checks the patient’s blood pressure. It can be a hundred to seventy for young people and a hundred and twenty eight for middle-aged people. The normal blood pressure for old people is a hundred and forty to ninety. Then the doctor makes the patient lie down and he checks the patient’s stomach. Sometimes the patient is asked to shut his eyes and put his feet together and the doctor hits the patient’s knees to test his reflexes. Sometimes the doctor even measures the patient’s height and checks his weight.
If the doctor prescribes some medicine, people should take the prescription to the nearest chemist’s and have it made up there. The chemist usually warns us if the particular medicine is meant for internal or external use.
One can have some medicine also without a doctor’s prescription. In such a case we can ask the chemist for some recommendation on how to take the medicine. We get some medicine in the form of mixtures, injections, drops, pills, tablets, and ointment. We can obtain adhesive tape, bandage, plaster and cotton wool at the chemist’s.
When people have been laid up with something serious or if they are seriously injured in an traffic accident or sports activities they are taken to hospital. People are taken to hospital to be operated on, too. I have been to hospital only as a visitor when my grandfather broke his leg.
The most serious problems at present are presented by cancer and by heart trouble. In Latvia 55,5% people die from heart illnesses and 16,2% from cancer. The average life expectancy in Latvia is about 65 years in favour of women.
I usually go to the dentist when I must have my tooth treated - it’s when one of my teeth is giving me trouble. In fact, one should see the dentist about twice a year. But it’s rather often that we have been on the point of making an appointment with the dentist several times, but the pain has stopped and so after having been complaining of toothache for weeks, we at last decide to see the dentists but he may sometimes not be able to save the tooth and it has to be pulled out. If the damage is not so bad, if there is a cavity that needs filling, the bad tooth is filled. First the doctor bores it. When all is hospital. So it’s advisable to try to eat all the meals, but they are not tasty. Over, one rinses his mouth with mouth-wash. People should wash their teeth two times a day.
People can have problems with their eyes, too. Some can be short sighted or long sighted. I am short sighted and I have to wear spectacles. If people have problems with their eyes, they should watch less TV and they shouldn’t read in subdued light.
One should always take care of one’s health and keep in mind that prevention is better than cure. There are certain laws of health which deserve particular attention. Above all a constant supply of pure fresh air is necessary to good health. Perfect cleanliness is also essential. A certain amount of exercise is necessary to keep the body in perfect condition. All the powers (mental and bodily) we possess are strengthened by use and weakened by disuse. Therefore labour and study should succeed each other. Late hours are very harmful to one’s health as they exhaust the nervous system. Most essential to our body is food. If we want to keep fit, we must observe all the mentioned laws of health.

We all miss you in the class and look forward to your return. There are so many changes in me and school since you went into hospital. I cut my hairs (mati ir vienskaitlis, tāpēc s nevajag). Yes, surprise! Then we have new teacher. She’s name is Cassandra Brown. Cassandra is fantastic, extremely nice and beautiful teacher. And incredible new our lovely teacher have son he’s name is Alex. He’s just cutie (man šķiet to vārdu raksta cute un tad nevajag to just priekšā). You must see him. When you will arrive we both will meet with him. When you will arrive, we both will meet with him. Also we will go on a trip. I hope you will be healthy, if not were not going anywhere, because I don’t want to get you sick.

I thought you will ask me to send you a magazine. I'm sending it to you with this letter. I remembered our favorite magazine and thought it would make you laugh. I hope you enjoy it and find time to read it before you return to school. I know you’ve always wanted to find in love. So there is your big chance. Anyway, take it easy and look after yourself.

Well, enough for today. I should start doing my homeworks now. I have to write an informal letter to a friend. As I know, you especially like this kind of homework, don’t you? And no more discussions, because I’ m extremely sad.

I hope to see you soon

With Love,

Kasia

Dear Anna,

Thanks for your letter. I’m sorry I haven’t written for so long but unfortunately I’ve been extremely busy, because of all the work for school. There are so many tests to do. I hope you are feeling better. I’m very glad that there is nothing to serious, but I’m still worry about you!
